Happy Ag Day! For Ag Day 2014, we are stepping back to recognize that each year brings 365 sunrises and 7 billion mouths to feed – no easy task. In order to make sure the citizens of the world receive the nutrition they need every day, health professionals and the food industry will need to each do their part in providing education and helping people choose sustainable, nutritious diets.
Luckily, groups like the Alliance to Feed the Future and the International Food Information Council (IFIC) have made strides towards increasing public awareness of the mismatch between the world’s growing population and its limited environmental resources, and food producers, like our egg farmers, continue to make vast improvements in sustainability through improved production practices. It is only with this type of coordinated action that we can hope to provide adequate amounts of healthy food for a growing population for generations to come.
Not only is the Egg Nutrition Center (ENC) the American Egg Board’s credible source of nutrition and health science information and the acknowledged leader in research and education related to eggs, it is a proud member of the Alliance to Feed the Future.
